Autographs
June 30th, 2008
I still have yet to hear back from that oh-so-very-important meeting. More and more I’m thinking that I’ll have to do things myself, and it sucks to be the girl who knows a lot in an industry that’s all about who you know instead of what you know. I’ve pretty much decided that if I’m not doing what I want to be doing by this time next year, that I’ll go out to California to pursue modeling and also work as a makeup artist or something. I don’t know. I guess I’ll just have to see…a lot could happen in a year.
(Completely unrelated picture…it’s from my eBay junk, but I thought it was cool so I messed with it…)

I saw one of my favorite bands on the 19th: Alkaline Trio. I swear I was like three feet away from Dan Andriano…you know what that means? I was freaking out the ENTIRE time. Haha :). It didn’t help that they played my two favorite songs first and second (Private Eye and Clavicle…mhmm!). It was definitely my second favorite concert of all time, first being The Misfits. The two opening bands were also pretty good - Bayside and The Fashion. The Fashion were really energetic and fun, they definitely have a new fan in me :)! The picture below is of an autographed copy of their new CD that hits stores tomorrow. I was one of 250 lucky people who not only got their copy signed, but also got it a day early - teehee! If you’d like to see pictures from the show, they’re in the misc photos section.

My best friend is away at a language immersion program, and she has two weeks left to go. We’re only allowed to communicate through snail mail, which blows, but at least my stickers are getting put to good use XD! I’ve been hanging out a lot with one of those old friends I mentioned in my last post. I’ve been dying to play Guitar Hero ever since it came out, and he was nice enough to bring over his PS3 and Guitar Hero III for me. It’s only been two days and I’m almost as good as him, hehe, but I guess I have an unfair advantage due to my history with Dance Dance Revolution :P. He left it over here, so by the time he gets his system back, I’ll be the Guitar Hero! Bwhahahahaha!
Some of my friends have been reading The Complete Zombie Survival Guide and have been getting, imho, a bit too into it. So my final question is: Do you think a zombie-virus outbreak is possible? Haha!

Drawing Conclusions
June 4th, 2008
I’m meeting with some people on Saturday, and whatever happens there will pretty much decide what I’m going to be doing…for a very, very, very long while. Everything is still a huge lump of “if”’s and “maybe”’s, but best case scenarios would include me going to NYC or Milan.
More and more old friends are popping out of nowhere. It’s weird, it’s strange, their timing is so incredibly awkward, but I’m welcoming the company. Right now staying busy is the only thing that’s helping me keep my sanity.
A friend of mine introduced me to xSketch (it’s like Pictionary), so I’ve been playing that a lot when I have “down time”. And by playing it a lot, I mean enough to be in the top 25 players XD. My username on there is HerHipness, if anybody wants to look me up and play sometime. I warn you though, it’s totally addicting.
I’ve purchased a bunch of things from eBay recently, everything from vintage dresses, to Care Bear pins, to the Amelie DVD (I can’t wait for it to get here already!). I’ve actually managed to sell a couple things too. I need to take some pictures of one of the vintage dresses I got…it’s so adorable, I just love it :).
To the post office I go!
PS: Things didn’t work out with the boy. (What an idiot.)

These are hard times for dreamers.
May 16th, 2008
So many things have happened in the past few weeks it’s crazy. May 10th’s fashion show went well, and I met a lot of amazing people in the process. When I get pics of the clothes I wore, I’ll be sure to post them…one of the dresses I wore was crazy. But you’ll see that later :).
I’m done with school - for good! I never have to write another five-paragraph essay analyzing trivial things, read Hamlet, memorize obscure factoids, or BS my way though short answer questions ever again. I wasn’t expecting to feel any different, but when I finished my second exam I felt like I wanted to skip out of the school. It was amazing…it still is amazing. I feel like a huge burden has been lifted away, and now I can actually focus on things that matter to me. I can finally breathe!
I’ve been watching a whole slew of movies lately…Dead Awake, Scream, Marie Antoinette, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Transformers, The Woods, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Grudge 2, Talladega Nights, Pretty Woman…everybody always makes fun of me for not watching enough movies, and now I’m a movie-watching machine. Oh, oh, oh, and most importantly, I’ve began to watch Amélie. I’m only halfway through it, but I know it’s going to become my favorite movie.
Okay, question: you know those people that you see at school/work everyday but you never talk to? Like, you don’t avoid them, but they’re just always around and the two of you never meet? Yea, well, I met one of them…and now we’re kind of going out
.
Woosh, I swear the strangest things happen to me on a daily basis.
This week I’ve gotta finish working on getting my Ebay store up and running and getting ready for a few upcoming shoots. I feel like something exciting is going to happen soon…but who knows, right?
(PS: sorry for the picture-lackage…I’ve been trying to make awkward times less awkward by not randomly whipping out a camera every ten minutes!)

Wrong
April 21st, 2008
Fact of the day: It’s a little difficult to take a picture a day if you forget where you put your camera. I’m so bad at the Project 365 thing. It’s more like “take a picture today, then skip four days, then try to remember what you did those four days and make up for not taking pictures those days. Oh, and don’t forget to actually NOT take pictures of the interesting things you do because you don’t want to feel weird whipping out a camera in the middle of something important and probably get your camera confiscated for taking pictures in places where you’re not allowed.”
Does it ever happen to you where you’ll see a word somewhere, a very common word, and it just doesn’t look right? Like it looks like it’s misspelled or in another language but it’s not? That just happened to me. I was writing a away message for my AIM that’s along the lines of “Woohoo yay Monday! I love Monday!” (because Mondays are quite enjoyable when you don’t have school or work to worry about)…and it just didn’t look right. What kind of word is Monday anyway? What a stupid word.

Anyways, I’ve been full of excitement the past few days. On Friday I went to this meet and greet thing that I thought was going to be…uneventful. Well, guess who was wrong? I got picked up by another agency. On top of that, they’re going to squeeze me into a show they already have set up for May. All I’ve got to do is show up for rehearsal tonight and I’m good to go.
Oh, but it gets better.
Last night I was lounging around and the phone rang. I didn’t want to answer it (nobody calls for me at that time of day anyway), so I let it go to the machine. I thought I recognized the voice as being my grandma, so I yelled to my mom to pick it up. Well, guess who was wrong here, too? Haha, it was actually the hairstylist from the last show I did. She was asked to do the show again this upcoming weekend at a different event. Guess who’s gonna get here “hurr did” again? Hehe!
PS: anybody here know of a site that breaks down the Wordpress comments CSS and tells you how to make them pretty? Mine are atrocious right now (don’t even ask what I was trying to go for). If there’s a tut out there that tells you how to make them into “speech bubbles” that would be super cool.

Runway Show
April 14th, 2008
Yesterday was interesting. I’ll leave my comments to that, so I’ll just divulge the facts. There was a fashion show event and I was part of hairstylist’s group that came on in the middle of the show. We did a little five minute walking/dancing routine and took a few pictures with photographers afterwards. The hair and makeup were awesome, I especially liked my hair :P.

I was just completely out of my element in a million different way ways. Not to mention that I felt like I was surrounded by a dozen sketchy characters, all of which who could tell that I was able to see right through them. Awkward? Yep.

I’ve been attracting a lot of awkward situations lately. The crummy thing about that is that no matter how many you go through, things never become any less awkward. I mean, that’s kind of how awkwardness works :P.
Tata for now,

Finally!
April 1st, 2008
You have no idea how glad I am that this site is up.

I’ve gone through a whole bunch of crap since January, and not having my own corner of the internet to mess around with was definitely not helping…not to mention everyday I’d have to worry about getting the boot from the q*bee and losing all of my friends from there :(! Anyways, things are looking up now, and I’m excited about this site. I hope some of you all out there enjoy visiting it, too :).
I’m going to miss little-penguin a whole lot. I worked on that site since 2001 and put a bajillion tons of work and effort into it. I learned a whole lot while maintaining that site and met a lot of really cool people because of it. This site is still going to have the same vibe as L-P, but blah, you can’t just go replacing things like that. But oh well, I seem to be the queen of serendipity, so hopefully Ssscribbles will turn out to be an even better adventure.
Moral of the story: when your webhost announces that it’s going to be “upgrading” everybody’s hosting while changing ownership…RUN. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just run!
See you soon,
